Physical Spring Catalogs Vs PDF Spring Catalog

Finding the right replacement spring or one that will work in your device or machine can be a bit overwhelming if you are unsure what you are looking for. That is why it is so important that you know the type of spring you need (compression, extension, torsion) and then obtain the dimensions you need it to have. Once you have this, the task of finding the right stock spring starts.

A few years ago you would have had to get a thick, big catalog and search page by page for the spring that most closely matched your needs based on the dimensions you required. There are now online catalogs that allow you to still view a full list of part numbers, but here at Stock Springs Catalog, we have made the process much quicker and more efficient. No need to scroll or flip page by page for hours. However, there are still a lot of customers that ask us about catalog books, so we have an online option that allows you to download a PDF catalog. Here are some pros and cons to ebook stock spring catalogs.

Physical Spring Catalogs Vs PDF Spring Catalog

Physical Spring Catalogs

-Not environmentally friendly.

These catalogs usually have tons of pages and need to be updated yearly, causing a lot of paper to go to waste. It takes 24 fully developed trees to make a ton of paper, and one ton of paper is about 400 printed spring catalogs. Twenty years ago we were not aware of that, and the internet was not as advanced as it is now, so all spring companies had to print out physical catalogs. However, at Acxess Spring, we became aware of this environmental issue and were one of the first companies in the industry to begin developing online software to address this and many other issues that we felt needed better solutions and innovative responses.

-Misplaced.

Yes, despite these huge books being hard to misplace years ago, we still had clients calling in saying they needed replacement catalogs because they could not recall where they placed their catalogs.

-Stained or worn out.

Long ago, when we still all used big catalog books, we found that many customers still had to call in asking for the spring they needed because the pages in their physical catalog had become stained or worn out. This was very inconvenient for them and counterproductive.

-Long and tiring process.

Finding a spring with specific dimensions page after page in a physical catalog can be tiring for your eyes, frustrating, and a time-consuming process.

PDF Catalog

-Environmentally friendly.

Having an online PDF catalog allows you to still have a document where you can find all available part numbers and springs, with details about their dimensions and other specifications, without the hassle of carrying or caring for a big physical book. It is also more environmentally friendly and produces less waste. We ask that our customers consider the importance and impact that every printed page has on the environment, and we strongly recommend avoiding the printing of PDF catalogs as this would defeat the purpose.

-A bit easier to search and have.

Having a stock spring PDF catalog saved on your computer can make it easy for you to search even without internet access. It is also easier to find a part number without having to flip page after page. Simply press the button control + f on your keyboard or cmd + f if you are on a Mac computer, and it will open up a window where you can input a specific text to search for. Keep in mind though, that this will work well for our part numbers since our springs have the dimensions of the spring as part of the part number but not for other spring companies.

-It still needs to be updated.

Many PDF catalogs need to be updated yearly as every company changes the number of part numbers or stock they have for stock springs. At Stock Springs Catalog we try to update our catalogs every 6 months. However, we offer an even better solution than PDF stock spring catalogs.
